However, there was one noticeable gap: they didn't ship an official standalone command-line binary. If you wanted to run modern Q# programs, you had to either click buttons inside VS Code, install Python wrappers (`pip install qsharp`), or use web playgrounds. There was no simple `qsharp <file.qs>` tool you could install and use straight from your terminal or CI pipelines. To bridge this gap, I built `qsharp` — a fast, zero-dependency, standalone command-line compiler and runner for modern Q#. Built with Rust, it directly links against Microsoft's official `qsc` and `resource_estimator` crates: ⚡ Instant Execution: Pure native binary with sub-second compile-and-run cycles (no .NET SDK, C# runtime, or Python needed). 📊 Multi-Shot & Histograms: Simulate quantum operations across N shots with aggregated result frequencies (`qsharp run -s 1000`). 📐 Circuit Diagrams: Render clean ASCII text circuits right inside the terminal (`qsharp circuit`). 🔬 Resource Estimation: Calculate logical and physical qubit footprints across architectures (`qsharp estimate`). 📦 Packaged: Includes an automated Windows `.msi` installer with system PATH integration alongside Linux & macOS binaries.
